I think that soaker hoses are the way to go when it comes to watering for several reasons. Sometimes plants will get a disease just from water staying on their leaves. The soaker hose prevents the foliage from staying too wet and the water is not evaporated as much as with sprinkler hoses. The water goes right to the roots where it needs to and there is not as much water waste.

This is a very handy piece of equipment. It requires no electricity. I used it today to cultivate between my rows. It sure beat using the hoe to do the weeding. To really prepare the soil first I used the tiller in the next picture. This little cultivator will help keep weeds out if you use it when the weeds are just starting to grow. I especially like it too for the extra seed furrow attachement. It made it easy to plant the seeds.

I don't think we could do without this high performance tiller. We bought this exact tiller that I have pictured here last year and it has certainly helped prepare the ground. It was perfect for our size garden and especially since we couldn't get a big tractor in the area. We think it is the best and shipping free makes it all the more so.

This is the best documentary I have ever seen on gardening. I just loved it and the things I learned from watching this dvd will have a great impact on the way I do gardening from now on.
